The Shotokan karate taught at Twin Dragons Martial Arts/Ryuhokan is from the Japan Karate Association style, which was passed down from Funakoshi Gichin sensei (founder of Shotokan karate) to Nakayama Masatoshi (founder of the JKA) to Nishiyama Hidetaka (founder of ITKF) to Jerry Offutt (founder of United Shotokan Association) and is now being taught by Cary Callahan Renshi.

Cary has been involved in the martial arts for over 30 years, beginning his training in 1985 with Jim Goode and Acie Toler sensei. In 2014 Cary joined the United Shotokan Association and is currently under Jerry Offutt Hanshi (9th dan).

In addition to holding a 6th dan, Renshi, in Shotokan karate, Cary also holds master level teaching degrees in Chi-Lin Kung Fu and Pai-Lum Kung Fu.
